testosterone: A male sex hormone found in small amounts in women. Testosterone plays a large role in sex drive.

transvaginal ultrasound: An ultrasound that sends sound waves into the pelvic cavity through a probe inserted into the vagina.

uterus: The pear-shaped organ in a woman's lower abdomen that holds a developing fetus until delivery.

vagina: The canal connecting the uterus to the outside of the body.

vaporization: Destroying endometriosis by boiling the water inside the endometrial cells. Vaporization may use either a laser or an electrosurgical knife.

vulva: The exterior of the female sex organs.
